Like the Porsche 911, the Porsche Design Chronograph 1 is an iconic design piece. Both have stood the test of time and are instantly recognizable. Although Porsche has a lot more history than that, as it launched the 356 No 1. Dating all the way back to 1948, it's the first thing we think of when we think of the brand. The same goes for the watch, which is the first-ever black-coated watch, a very purposeful decision by Ferdinand Alexandre “Butzi” Porsche. The Chronograph 1 also happens to be the first product Porsche Design released in 1972. It all seems to come to a close now with the Porsche Design Chronograph 1 – 75th Anniversary Porsche Edition, celebrating three quarters of the Porsche-branded sports cars!
We could go on and on about the amazing history of Porsche, and as you know, we do so often on our weekly automatic show, The Petrolhead Corner. While there's plenty more to celebrate Porsche's 75th anniversary, we're going to focus on this new celebratory watch that takes the iconic chronograph and adds a little twist to the wrist.high quality fake watches
The Porsche Design Chronograph 1 – 75 Years of Porsche Edition features the familiar 40 mm wide case. It's been sandblasted with glass beads for a matte sheen and finished with a black titanium carbide coating. It has a barrel-like shape thanks to the hooded lugs and the solid black-coated bezel on top. On the right, flanked by the crown, are two chronograph pushers, also coated in black. Double-sided sapphire crystal, case back engraved with special Porsche 75th anniversary logo. With 100 meters of water resistance, it can withstand a rain shower or a jump in the pool.
As you'd expect from a Chronograph 1, the dial is matte black. Taken from the dashboard gauges of the 1960s and 70s, these dashboards only show what is needed, and the design hasn't lost an iota of power. The black and white color scheme has a strong contrast and is clear and easy to read. The hands are white, as are the markers on all sub-dials. The only color is the central chronograph seconds hand, a neon orange that mimics the look of a racing tachymeter hand. Flipping the watch over reveals the Porsche Design Caliber WERK 01.140, a proprietary automatic chronograph movement based on the Valjoux 7750 architecture. It comes with chronometer certification according to COSC standards. The movement is fitted with a Fuchs-style winding rotor, a nod to the early Porsche 911 wheels, a very popular look even today. It runs at 28,800vph and offers a 48-hour power reserve. Next to central hours and minutes, it indicates small seconds and chronograph with 30-minute counter, 12-hour counter and central chronograph seconds.
The Porsche Design Chronograph 1 – 75 Years of Porsche Edition comes with two straps. One is a perforated black leather strap and the other is a black NATO style strap with leather lining. It features a red centerline, light blue stitching, and black hardware. The textile strap has black DLC-coated titanium end links and an interchange system that allows it to be swapped for a leather strap.
