In order to fight against corrosion, bi-metal self-drilling screws (SDS) are introduced to the construction fields. Made with two different materials, bi-metal SDS gains the advantage of both. A popular combination is with carbon steel in the drill bit (hard enough for decent drilling performance), while having stainless steel in the shank (anti-corrosion and to provide long-term support and fastening purpose).
